This morning after meeting ev
ery one in the school hall we left for the Totem park that is situated near the sea in the forest. This park is one of the first and most important places of Alaska. We were driven there by very nice mothers who had taken of their time to take us. When we arrived, we were welcomed by a ranger that talked to us about the totem center and Sitka`s history. We saw a movie telling us about Sitka and the war between the Russians and the Tlingits (the Native Americans who lived here for over 10,000 years ago). Then we went to see Tommy Joseph a very well known carver in Alaska ( he received a prise by the President a few weeks ago!) .Then we went around the park, walking around the woods and stopping every now and then to look at the totems and to learn about their meaning ( like the mouskito legend).

Then we went back to school by foot. We had lunch and then attended classes with our correspondent. School finished at 3.30 pm and every one came back to their house.
